How to Unlock Chara/Megalo Fullbring
Step 1: Become a Fullbringer
You must first be a Fullbringer. If you’re not, you’ll need to go through the standard process of becoming one before this questline will even appear. Only Fullbringers can start the Chara quest.
Step 2: Complete the Terminal Soul Quest
This is the first stage of Chara’s questline. Here’s what you must do:
- Knock an opponent and get a health pack from them while you’re below 10% HP.
- There’s about a 25% chance for completion each time you succeed.
- You don’t need to grip the opponent — knocking them down while at low health is enough.
Keep your health low (around 10%) and repeatedly knock enemies in combat until the system notifies you of progress. Once successful, you’ll receive the first quest item automatically.
Step 3: Heart Locket Quest
Next, you’ll need to trade a rare item with another player. The game specifically recognizes the Hogyoku Ball as valid for this quest.
- Simply trade someone a Hogyoku Ball (or another rare item if supported later).
- Once the trade completes, you’ll automatically unlock the Heart Locket quest completion.
Note:
This is often the hardest part because the Hogyoku Ball is a rare drop. You may need to either farm it or negotiate with another player.
Step 4: Real Knife Quest
For this stage, you must send players to Purgatory — meaning you have to grip 25 players in Karakura Town.
- The grips must be done in Karakura Town.
- Once you’ve gripped 25 people, you’ll automatically obtain the Real Knife quest item.
After this step, you should now have the three required quest items:
- Terminal Soul item
- Heart Locket
- Real Knife
Step 5: Obtain the Medic Essence (Extra Kate Essence)
The final material you need is the Extra Kate Essence, also called Medic Essence. This one can’t be earned through combat — you’ll have to trade for it.
Once you have the Medic Essence, you’re ready for the final step.
Step 6: Unlocking Chara (Megalo)
- Go to Fake Karakura Town.
- Press Comma ( , ) on your keyboard and head toward Chara’s location.
- Interact with Chara, and the ability will automatically unlock.
Congratulations — you now have Chara/Megalo Fullbring!
How to Unlock Chara’s Mode
Once you’ve unlocked Chara, you’ll also want to access its mode (transformation).
To unlock the mode:
- You’ll enter a small mini-event where you must dodge on-screen projectiles or hazards.
- Complete this short challenge successfully, and the mode will unlock.
It’s fairly straightforward and doesn’t require combat — just good timing and movement.
Chara/Megalo Fullbring
Base Form Skills
Z Skill – Dual Slash Combo
Chara unleashes two massive slashes in front of them. Fast, reliable, and good for burst damage.
X Skill – Leap Barrage
You jump onto your opponent and perform a rapid barrage of stabs. A perfect skill for finishing low-health enemies or punishing openings.
C Skill – Shadow Cut & Knockback
This ability has two stages:
- Teleports behind the enemy and performs multi-directional slashes.
- Finishes with a powerful knockback slash, sending the opponent flying.
Full Mode (Transformation)
Once activated, Chara’s mode unlocks two special moves — G and T.
G Skill – Bladed Frenzy Grab
You grab your opponent and perform a 360° barrage of slashes around you. Excellent for crowd control and cinematic flair.
T Skill – Sky Slam Execution
Chara dashes forward, grabs the opponent, launches them into the air, and slams them down in a massive AoE explosion.
This is one of the flashiest and most satisfying finishers in the Fullbringer roster.
Tips for Farming and Trading
- Farm Hogyoku Balls early before starting the questline to avoid delays.
- When trading for Medic Essence, use trustworthy servers or friends — it’s a rare item.
- Since the grips must happen in Karakura Town, queue up duels there instead of random maps.
Chara (Megalo) stands out as one of the most rewarding Fullbrings in Type Soul, both mechanically and visually. While the questline involves several trade and grind steps, it’s far more forgiving than The Almighty’s unlock process.
If you can secure the rare materials and complete the Karakura grips, you’ll gain access to one of the most dynamic and stylish Fullbringer modes in the game.
