This Knightica Beginner Guide breaks down exactly what to do, step-by-step, from your champion selection all the way to defeating the third boss. You don’t need overpowered legendaries like Chaos Lord or Ogre. With smart unit choices and a good plan, you can win with any setup—including the underrated but powerful Bomb strategy.
Before You Start: Game Mode & Champion
When starting a fresh run:
- Choose Campaign Mode > Normal Difficulty (Hard and Arena unlock later)
- Pick your Champion – we recommend starting with the Warrior
Why Warrior?
- Auto-heals after Elite/Boss fights
- Gets a Special Shop after each Elite/Boss
- Exclusive unit: The General, which gains defense when hit and boosts attack for units on its row/column
If it’s your first run, Warrior gives you the most straightforward tools to survive and succeed.
Starter Perks – Choose Wisely
You’re offered three starting perks each run. If you’re not happy with the options, feel free to reroll by exiting and starting a new game.
Recommended starters for beginners:
- Level 2 Common Unit – Solid early advantage
- Units cost HP instead of gold – High-risk but pairs well with Warrior’s healing
Avoid perks like “Heal after 3 turns” with Warrior, since you already auto-heal on Elites/Bosses.
Early Priorities: Miner First, Always
No matter your comp or champion, your #1 goal should be to get a Miner.
Why Miner is Essential:
- Generates +1 gold per turn
- Gets bonus gold if it’s not adjacent to any other unit
- Gives bonus gold at the start of battle if you have ≥20 gold
- At higher levels, this scales exponentially—up to 100+ gold per turn
This is the foundation of your economy. Get one ASAP and build around keeping 20–50+ gold at all times.
World 1 Strategy
Early Game Build
- Grab a Miner, any decent tanky frontliner (e.g., General), and a few Greed or Mercenary units.
- Greed units scale with how much gold you have—great synergy with Miners.
- Mercenaries get stronger the richer you are and sometimes provide discounted units.
Special Encounters – Always Pick Elites (with Warrior)
- Elites give you access to Special Shops full of rare or epic units early on.
- Warrior heals after each one, so there’s no real risk unless your board is underpowered.
Augments – Pick Gold or Reroll Boosts
- Prioritize augments that:
- Give free gold
- Offer free rerolls
- Spawn rare units in shop
- Buff Miners or reroll-scaling units (like Bombs)
Optional: Bomb Strategy
If you pick up Bomb units early:
- Level them gradually
- Pair with spells or enchantments that swap ATK/DEF
- Each time their defense changes, they gain more attack
- Use Selfish, Rage, or scaling spells to snowball them into monsters
World 1 Boss – The Giant Spider
- Debuffs certain tiles with -5 ATK, so avoid placing core damage units there
- Spawns reinforcements over time, so it’s a DPS race
- Your Bombs and Mercenaries should be enough to handle it—don’t be afraid to drop under 20 gold temporarily if needed to win
World 2 Strategy
By now, your goal is to:
- Level key units to Level 3–4
- Have 2+ Miners generating passive income
- Add Princesses or support units like Shamans if found
Why Princesses Are Key (For Endless/Scaling)
- Don’t merge them—they give XP to adjacent units
- More Princesses = higher level cap for other units
- If you plan on reaching Endless 25, you’ll need 9 Princesses on board
Legendary Units to Look For
- The King: Gains attack from total gold earned; scales hard in gold-heavy comps
- The Cauldron: Adds temporary buffs based on incense used
- Spellblade: Great scaling damage if you’re lacking Bombs
- General: Defensive support, boosts ATK for nearby units
You don’t need Chaos Lord to win. Prioritize synergy and scaling instead.
Enchantments to Grab
- Lone Wolf for isolated Miners
- Rage on high-ATK units (like Mercs or Bombs)
- Zombie Spawn or stat-steal enchantments on tanks
- Swap ATK/DEF for Bomb synergy
World 2 Boss – The Kraken
- Burrows underground, spawns tentacles
- You must destroy the tentacles to expose the boss head
- The longer the fight, the worse it gets—burst it down fast
- Avoid stalling or your backline will get overwhelmed
World 3 Strategy
- Replace outdated units with strong legendaries (like King, Cauldron, Spellblade)
- Focus on getting your Princess army in place if going Endless
- Optimize stat boosting, gold stacking, and enchantments
At this stage, generals + bombs + king + cauldron + princesses can carry almost any comp.
World 3 Boss – Chaos Lord
- Steals units from your shop and adds their stats to itself
- Don’t reroll too much before the fight—lock your board early
- Either burst it down in one cycle, or survive waves and clean up fast
With strong scaling (Bombs with swapped stats, King with huge gold scaling, Cauldron buffs), this boss shouldn’t be a problem—even without broken units.
After Beating Normal
Congratulations! Once you beat the third boss:
- You unlock Hard difficulty and Arena mode
- You can continue your run into Endless, aiming for Endless 25
