Season 2 has officially begun in Top Heroes, transforming the map from a desert biome into a frozen tundra. While many systems remain similar to Season 1, there are several important new mechanics, resources, and buildings that change how players and guilds should approach the season.
This Top Heroes Season 2 Guide breaks down all the major changes, from the new ruins system to seasonal tech research, so you know how to progress efficiently.
Top Heroes Season 2 Guide
New Map and Ruins
At the start of Season 2, the map resets, forcing players to expand outward again. Instead of desert ruins, you now conquer frozen ruins ranging from level 1 to level 5. Each ruin provides different rewards and, most importantly, obsidian, the key ranking resource for guilds.
Guild standings at the end of the season will be determined by the total obsidian they control, so capturing and holding ruins is critical.
Ruins also tie into the melt ice mechanic. By sending scouts to clear ice, you can uncover hidden treasures, including gear, coal, iron, and special season tokens. These rewards can be shared with your guild, making it worthwhile to use your daily “melt attempts.”
Environmental Changes

The desert’s water mechanic is replaced by temperature management in Season 2.
- Furnaces keep your castle warm and replace the old oasis mechanic.
- During blizzards (similar to sandstorms), players must warm their own and their allies’ castles to survive.
- The Dragon Furnace replaces the guild oasis, providing warmth to all nearby guild members when upgraded.
Coal becomes a vital new resource, used to fuel furnaces for warmth or overdrive boosts that increase damage in PvP and boss fights.
New Seasonal Buildings
Several new facilities shape your progression in Season 2:
- High Temperature Furnace: Levels up to improve heat output. Can be overdriven with coal for temporary buffs.
- Iron Workshop: Produces iron, a new seasonal resource required for constructing and upgrading seasonal buildings.
- Essence Workshop: Converts base resources into Dragon Essence, which is crucial for brilliance-level upgrades to your castle, guild hall, and faction barracks.
Seasonal Bosses and Enemies
The familiar Titan Boss returns, now themed as the Frost Titan, still dropping relics and gear.
- Legion Bosses have been upgraded to level 9, slightly tougher than before.
- A new invasion enemy, the Frostbone Dragon, appears periodically. Players must deal morale damage during these events to earn rewards. Prizes include coal, iron, and ranking-based rewards if you join early.
Season 2 Tech Research
Season 2 introduces a fresh tech tree with several priorities:
- Max your research tree to boost general efficiency.
- Push down the tree to unlock extra warm-up attempts and damage boosts against the Frostbone Dragon.
- Rush to the Hero Level Cap increase (+5 levels) to strengthen your lineup and expand march size.
- Continue to unlock march size bonuses further down the tree for large power spikes.
- Finish with guild tech reductions and faction-specific stat buffs such as Honor of the Horde, Vitality of Nature, and Glory of League.
New Features and Systems
- Peak Ranking Match (3v3 PvP): Unlike Season 1, you must use faction-specific matchups (League vs League, Horde vs Horde, etc.), adding more strategy. Refreshes occur every 10 seconds, and manual matching is recommended over quick challenge.
- Season 2 Adventure Mode: Five new areas to explore, offering hero drops, lord’s gear, and additional rewards.
- Pet Evolution: A new mechanic unlocking the fourth pet form, greatly enhancing pets when fully developed.
Rewards and Season Store
Progression in Season 2 includes weekly quests, seasonal milestones, and guild milestones, all rewarding Frostfire Cores to spend in the Ember of the Frozen Flame shop.
Best purchases include:
- Decorations – Provide march size, soldier HP, and attack boosts (especially strong with mono-faction teams).
- Dragon Essence – Required for brilliance-level upgrades on castles, barracks, and statues.
- Other seasonal items once your essentials are secured.
Season 2 of Top Heroes is both a reskin and a meaningful upgrade from Season 1. While many systems are familiar, the new resources—obsidian, coal, and iron—and buildings like the Dragon Furnace create fresh strategies for guilds.
Tech research and march size remain the most important long-term priorities, and focusing on faction-specific teams will maximize your rewards.
